Bridging Skills for Sustainable, Ecological and Digital Transformation

MESCI Students

Aguglia Carla

My name is Carla Aguglia, and my hometown is Reggio Calabria. My inclination towards international and multicultural settings became evident early on. In fact, I embarked on an international experience during high school by spending a year in Germany as an exchange student.
I subsequently moved to Rome to pursue my studies in Languages for Interpreting and Translation. During my undergraduate years, I had the privilege of working at the American Embassy in Rome. This experience ignited my keen interest in the diplomatic sector and international cooperation, leading to a Master's degree in Economics and International Management. Throughout this academic journey, I had the honor of contributing to the British Embassy to the Holy See, where my passion for international cooperation found new avenues. My Master's thesis focused on gender inequalities in the private sector and on the role of the World Bank Group in reducing them. My commitment to making a positive impact has extended beyond the academic realm. As a volunteer at Attendiamoci Onlus, a non-profit organization, I organized virtual tours at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and conducted insightful interviews with influential figures in economics and international development, such as the former Secretary of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Mr Luis Jimenez McInnis, and the former director of the International Monetary Fund, Mr Carlo Cottarelli. From the professional perspective, I delved into the corporate world, serving as a Business Analyst at Accenture and as Project Manager Officer at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). These roles have honed my quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. I chose to apply to MESCI Master's because I am eager to deepen my understanding of Gender, Sustainable Development, Rural Change, and Governance. My aspiration is to align both my academic background and personal values with my wish to serve and contribute to international development.
